Preliminary item pools composed of 495 items were administered to parents who live with the children at least recent 6 months. On the basis of 4 clinical psychologists' judgement and various statistical procedures for item analysis, the Korean Personality Inventory for Children (KPI-c) consisted of 255 items constructing 16 scale were developed. Four validity scales of KPI-C measure consistency and faithfulness of response, ego resiliency scale measure coping capacity of children to stress and 11 clinical scales measure problems of child related with development, emotion, behavior, interpersonal relation and reality testing. In reliability, KPI-C showed split half reliability around .70 and internal consistency around .75. Discriminant function analysis showed 91.1% (Depression Scale) -97.5% (Autism Scale) accurate discriminating ration. KPI-C seemed valid and reliable test for screening psychiatric problems of children in clinical setting and early detection and prevention in school setting. Limitation of this study and future study directions related with developing broadband scales and KPI-C profile typology were also discussed.
